What is flashing?

Flashing is the vinyl coated metal around the perimeter of the decking

where the waters flows off the edge away from the building's siding.  It is a vinyl coated folded metal 1/2" in size.

Flashing is recommended for those who prefer decks free of drains.

Can vinyl be used for roofing/over a living space?

Yes!  Vinyl can be used for roofing on flat roofs.  Many buildings such as GM Place in Vancouver have used vinyl

for roofing.  It has been found easy to maintain and quickly repairs any allocations of leaky spots.  60 mm vinyl has

been approved for living spaces by the BC Building Corporation for Vancouver and all municipalities.

How do prices range?

Prices range depending on project size and choice of vinyl.  Some vinyl comes with fuzzy backing and uses caulking or

other glues/adhesives to apply it.  Hallmark Decking does not use fuzzy back vinyl nor rely on glues/adhesives.

Instead, a special heat welding technique is used to apply the vinyl with a 600 degrees Celsius heat gun

specifically designed in Switzerland.
